Diabetes is on the increase.

The feet are at risk of damage by the diabetes if the sugar in the blood is very high.
Over a long period of time nerves and blood vessels, as well as the skin, may be affected.
It is very important to seek immediate help if you have a foot problem and diabetes.

Annual review
All people with diabetes need a yearly check up. We will take your foot pulses and let you hear the sound of them with our ‘Doppler”. You will be told about the state of the arteries in your feet. If you have a problem we will to refer you for further investigations, and perhaps recommend a visit, via your GP, to a hospital vascular department.

We will check the nerve supply, the skin and the feet in general . We also look at your shoes so you may need to bring a few pairs in; worn shoes can tell us a good deal about you!

If you develop a foot ulcer never delay; if you have diabetes and any concerns about a problem with your feet and can’t get to the clinic,  then contact us and we will let you know the best way to send us a photo. We can then advise you on the next steps to take.
